CBC Vancouver's Gloria Macarenko

A gala to support youth arts education

CBC Vancouver's Gloria Macarenko returns as host of Splash, Arts Umbrella's art auction and gala on October 21.

This year, attendees can once again attend the gala in two ways: at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, or, via a curated and catered at-home experience. Enjoy the evening with elegant food and cocktails, auctions of original artwork and entertainment.

Funds raised at Splash ensure that the benefits of an arts education can continue to be offered free-of-charge to vulnerable children and youth.

CBC Life: 3 Indigenous inspired recipes for giving thanks

Indigenous inspired recipes for giving thanks

Bannock is always a good idea and a delicious treat to indulge in, but Indigenous cuisine is about so much more.

The ancestral, culinary history is rich with healthy practices, traditional foods and not your average garden veggies or meats. Think dandelion roots and leaves for stews, soups, teas and medicines, wild game and fish head soup.

From wild salmon with garlic and sage to wild rice stuffing and an apple crisp loaded with deliciousness – CBC Life created a list of Indigenous inspired recipes perfect for any occasion or gathering.
