| Monday, August 24, 2020 | | | | | We've reached the finals, folks.
The Search for Metro Vancouver's Best Neighbourhood began 6-weeks ago with 192 neighbourhoods across the region. Now, after more than 450,000 votes, we have reached the final two: will it be Steveston or Mt. Pleasant?
Be sure to cast your final vote before deadline, because the winner of Metro Vancouver's Best Neighbourhood will be chosen by you and revealed on The Early Edition on August 28! Is your neighbourhood still in the running?
Head to cbc.ca/bestneighbourhood to request a limited edition lawn sign – if your 'hood wins, you could see one proudly placed on your front lawn on August 28! | | | | | | | Many of the popular trails around B.C.'s Lower Mainland now require a free B.C. Parks day pass, but there are lots of great alternatives in the region for those looking to avoid the new system.
CBC Vancouver talked to Stephen Hui, author of 105 Hikes In and Around Southwestern British Columbia, and he shared his suggestions for people unable to get a day pass.

The annual event has traditionally been concentrated in the Mount Pleasant and Strathcona areas but this year has expanded to nine neighbourhoods including South Granville, Robson, the West End, downtown, Gastown, Marpole and the River District.
From Aug. 18 to Sept. 7, artists will create over 60 pieces of public art — and while the usual street party and beer gardens have been cancelled, there are free walking tours available for people who pre-register.
