| Pay attention to the world | | | "Poetry is a practice of paying attention to the world; to pay attention to the world, you have to be in it.
"When I feel that there is nothing inside me to write, I turn back to the world to refill myself: through reading, yes, but also through walking, listening, going to the movies, belly-laughing with my friends, being as present as I can be.
"Then, when I return to the page, I try to be present there, too. I try to be open to where it pulls me and to where I need to push. It is an imperfect practice but one that I love recommitting myself to." | | Chimwemwe Undi is a Winnipeg-based poet, editor and lawyer.
