Every episode, a different true-crime case, from a different true crime insider.

The Let’s Make A team is back just in time for spooky season, and they’re trying their hand at horror! Comedians Mark Chavez, Maddy Kelly, and Ryan Beil are not just writing the script this time around, they’re going to actually produce, direct and film their final creation. Will it be a true scream dream or a frightening Frankenstein?

Catch episode one starting Oct. 11 and check out the Let's Make a Horror audio trailer.

A memorial portrait of Angel (left) and Wendy (centre) adorns a large wall on the Staples building in Whitehorse.

In the second episode of The Angel Carlick case, David Ridgen looks at the legacy of Wendy Carlick, Angel’s mother, who spent years fighting for truth and justice from the government — only for tragedy to strike again.

Wendy was set to speak at the Whitehorse public hearings at the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) in May 2017. But a month before these hearings — 10 years following the death of her daughter — she was murdered.

Hear about Wendy’s tireless fight and her enduring legacy in Episode 2.

The full CBC Podcasts Q&A interview with David Ridgen is now available. Hot tip: you can access episodes early on CBC Podcasts’ YouTube and the Apple True Crime Premium channel.

What We're Listening To

"Truly a genius concept: one “Star” goes on dates with “Callers” exclusively through phone conversations — they never meet in person. And we get to listen to all of the chemistry (and awkward moments) along the way. Plus, the focus is on dates and having fun! Not marriage, like some, ahem, *other* reality shows. The host (Zakiya Gibbons) is SO warm and funny. The show brings me joy, and it's been a while since I've appointment listened to something (new eps drop on Tuesdays!"

Meet This Week's Editor

A picture of Roshini Nair next to a picture of a baby Roshini and her alternate universe podcast art.

Greetings from Vancouver! Roshini here, the west coast-based digital producer for CBC Podcasts as well as one of the three Sounds Good newsletter editors. If you count yourself among those who need a lil’ podcast to listen to at all times of day and your Spotify Wrapped starts with a “get help” message, do not fear, I am one of you! During my time here, I’ve had the pleasure of working with the teams behind Kuper Island, The Secret Life of Canada, Run, Hide, Repeat, and The No Good, Terribly Kind, Wonderful Lives and Tragic Deaths of Barry and Honey Sherman among others.

If my life was a podcast, it would be an advice column called “Everyday Adventures”, because the world is constantly in flux and if you start thinking about all the tiny little factors it took to get you to this particular moment, every day is an adventure, good or bad.

Don’t forget to rate, review & subscribe.
Until next time,
