Skid Dogs is shortlisted for the 40th annual B.C. and Yukon Book Prizes. We'll revisit Margaret Gallagher's conversation with author Emilia Symington-Fedy about her unflinching memoir and its B.C. roots.

Kamloops Film Society and Kamloops-based podcast Drunk In A Graveyard are running their Summer Screams horror film series at the Paramount Theatre. Podcast co-host Robin Goodfellow joins us for a chat about building community with horror movies and more.

In the latest entry of August's Donuts Series, we'll pay a visit to North Vancouver's Cream Pony, where Erin Smith and her daughter Ali Finn sell doughnuts and fried chicken.

Sunday

Nelson Museum Archives & Gallery curator Arin Fay gives us a sneak peek of The Witness Blanket (Aug. 9 - Sept. 20), a touring reproduction of Carey Newman's exhibit, which compiles reclaimed items from residential schools, churches, and more.

Throughout August, CBC Victoria's Kathryn Marlow brings us a slice of island life with episodes of the CBC podcast This Is Vancouver Island. This week, we'll learn about a Comox Valley project that aimed to turn an old mill site back into a natural landscape.

ParticipACTION Scientific Director Leigh Vanderloo joins us to dispel some of the longstanding myths revolving around exercise and weight loss, as well as to emphasize the importance of rest days.

You ever see a word that doesn't sound or look like what it really means? NXNW Word Guy Jonathan Berkowitz weighs in on some words that have a mismatch of looks and meanings.
