As part of the VIFF Live series, they'll be performing an original live score for the 1926 German silent film, Faust. NXNW's Jeremy Ratt swung by their studio space to get a sneak peek of the live score, as well as the handmade instruments used to create it.

This week, Owira chats with us about Oliver Tambo by the Lalela Cape Town Choir. | | | Philip Owira... in Phil's Corner! | | | | | Between Pictures: The Lens of Tamio Wakayama comes to DOXA | | In Between Pictures: The Lens of Tamio Wakayama, filmmaker Cindy Mochizuki uses archival footage, animation, and current interviews to chronicle the life and legacy of the late Japanese Canadian photographer Tamio Wakayama.
Beginning his photography journey in the deep south during the 1960s U.S. civil rights movement, Wakayama spent many years documenting Vancouver's Japanese Canadian community with striking images that were displayed at events such as the Powell Street Festival. Mochizuki is also celebrating the opening of Ancestral Dreams and Other Premonitions, her exhibit at the Kamloops Art Gallery, running until July 6.
