Textiles - Domestic Intervention Co.

We kick off our February Textiles Series with Vancouver-based textile artist Corinna Hammond, who weaves clothing, dish towels, and art objects under the moniker Domestic Intervention. NXNW's Margaret Gallagher visited Corinna's Chinatown studio ahead of her open house this Saturday for a lesson in weaving.

Re-Imagining Chinatown opens at THIS Gallery

This week on NXNW, story producer Jeremy Ratt visited THIS Gallery in Vancouver's Chinatown to speak with Donna Seto, the artist and illustrator behind Re-Imagining Chinatown. The exhibit, which runs Feb. 2-10, features paintings of Chinatown storefronts in an exploration of colour, memory, and validation for the neighbourhood's history within the larger scope of Canadian history.

Record Keeping with Marcus Mosely

Marcus Mosely is a Texas-born singer and actor who's lived in Vancouver for almost 40 years, and is best known for his work as part of the gospel trio, The Sojourners.

This Saturday, Marcus is presenting the 12th annual Songs of Freedom Black History Concert at downtown Vancouver's Christ Church Cathedral. But earlier this week, he stopped by for some Record Keeping!

Here's what Marcus will be spinning for us:

A song from your youth?
With A Child's Heart by Stevie Wonder.

A song you keep coming back to?
Alfie by Dionne Warwick.

A song you're listening to right now?
Brighter Days by Blessing Offor.
