When the war in Ukraine started two years ago, a group of Yukoners knew they had to do something. The Ukrainian Canadian Association of Yukon is now on its third mission to the country to deliver medicine, medical supplies and equipment — all purchased with donations from Yukoners.

The Stark Lake site is about 22 kilometres east of Łutselk'e, and it was used to explore for uranium in the '40s and '50s. The federal government took responsibility for the site after it was abandoned in 1969.
