Sonya Power said there was an effort to try to buy St. Michael's and St. Agnes churches in Flatrock and Pouch Cove, respectively, when they were for sale. But that didn't work out. Instead, Power, who is the secretary for the Northeast Avalon Memorial Gardens Inc. says the group focused on another important part — that keeps loved ones close to their hearts.
