Welcome to the first edition of Music Teacher News! This newsletter will keep you up to date on all the upcoming and ongoing CBC Music education initiatives, including the Canadian Music Class Challenge.
We know that music teachers are facing unprecedented challenges in these times. Our goal is to help you bring a quality music education experience to your students.
In today’s edition...a Canadian Music Class Challenge update, The Canadian Music Playlist Challenge update, and a note about Band Aid from our friends at MusiCounts. | | | Learn about the Canadian Music Class Challenge | | | | | | Submissions are now open for The Canadian Music Class Challenge! | | | | | | Is your music class safely making a video this year? If so, have you registered your music class? Selected your song?
If you've answered "yes", then as of Oct. 6, you may submit your 2020 Canadian Music Class Challenge performance videos to CBC Music, using the instructions provided upon registration.
There is still time to participate, with plenty of how-to guides to complete your video safely. The deadline for video submission is Nov. 24. That’s why for this year, we’ve added a new ‘instrument-free’ project with our partners at MusiCounts Learn.
The Canadian Music Playlist Challenge is a free learning resource created by Mark Reid, the Juno Award-winning 2013 Music Teacher of The Year. Classes are encouraged to create a fifteen song playlist on any theme, which will be uploaded to a CBC website for all of Canada to see.
If you have registered for the project already, you will receive your playlist upload link on Friday Nov. 6. You can submit your playlist content anytime through the month of November. | | | From our partners at MusiCounts | | | | | | Learn about the Band Aid program | | | | | | It provides up to $15,000 worth of musical instruments, equipment and resources to any type of school music program. Grants are awarded in allotments between $5,000 and $15,000. Funds from the MusiCounts Band Aid Program may be used to support any approach to music education, and purchase any kind of musical instruments.
All schools in Canada are welcome to apply. Schools can apply for support with an existing music program, or schools without a music program may apply to build one at their school. Teachers, administrators and/or school support staff may prepare an application on behalf of their school.
Applications for the 2020-21 application cycle opened on September 15, 2020. The final application deadline is November 19, 2020. | | | | | Share this newsletter | | or subscribe if this was forwarded to you. | | | |
