In an ideal world, the oceans wouldn't be full of human garbage. But as long as that trash keeps washing ashore in Texas, conservationists are going to put it to good use.

The Mission-Aransas Reserve at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute is taking the best and most interesting finds from its bi-weekly beach surveys and putting them up for auction. 

Up for grabs are all sorts of buoys, netting and floats you'd expect to find in the ocean. But there are some more peculiar items — including a fibreglass mermaid, and a collection of horrifying, barnacle encrusted, internet-famous dolls.

Now, the acclaimed actor and filmmaker has released his first novel, The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece, which follows a process he knows well: the creation of a blockbuster from its conception to its premiere.

In an interview on Q with Tom Power, Hanks said, for him, writing is "a cross between a hobby and a mission," but he also joked about his newfound status as a novelist.

Since 2005, Dallas Green has released seven solo albums under the name City and Colour. It's been almost four years since his sixth album A Pill For Loneliness came out in late 2019. During that time the pandemic happened, along with some painful events in his personal life. His seventh and latest City and Colour record is called The Love Still Held Me Near.

On the eve of City and Colour's latest release, Dallas Green and his live band mates performed a special set for CBC Music Live at Hipposonic Studios in Vancouver. The set includes many of the new songs LIVE for the first time, along with some older hits.
