Jordan Abel among $25K Governor General's Literary Award winners

Nisga'a writer Jordan Abel has won the 2024 Governor General's Literary Awards for fiction for his novel Empty Spaces.
His novel is among the 14 titles, seven in English and seven in French, that were acknowledged by the Governor General's Literary Awards as the best books of the year.

5 writers make the 2024 CBC Poetry Prize shortlist

Writers Cicely Grace, Emily Yiling Ma, Rachel Robb, Eleonore Schönmaier and Catherine St. Denis have made the 2024 CBC Poetry Prize shortlist. You can read their poems now!
The winner will be announced on Nov. 21. She will receive $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts and a two-week writing residency at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity.

What I Know About You by Montreal writer Éric Chacour is a powerful queer love story that examines the consequences of breaking free from a life path that's been prescribed by family, religion, politics and society. 
On Bookends with Mattea Roach Chacour speaks about writing a Romeo and Juliet-inspired novel set in Cairo in the second half of the 20th century. Chacour is a finalist for both the 2024 Giller Prize and the Atwood Gibson Fiction Prize.
