As firefighters across the country battle Canada's second-worst wildfire season on record, the federal government announced details Tuesday of $45.7 million in research funding to better understand and mitigate fire risks.

China on Tuesday announced a preliminary anti-dumping duty on Canadian canola imports — a fresh escalation in a yearlong trade dispute that began with Ottawa's imposition of tariffs on Chinese electric vehicle imports last August.

The Calgary Urban Species Response Team monitors the city's downtown each year to record the number of birds they find that are either injured or dead after striking a window. Since Aug. 1, the team has found 91 birds that were victims of window collisions, up from just 11 at this time last year.
