| Sunday, November 21, 2021 | | | Sunday, November 21, 2021 | | Hi, art lovers! | | | Prediction: on the evening of Friday, Nov. 26, you will see a Schitt’s Creek meme. I’m not psychic, but it’s inevitable. Since 2015, roughly 85 per cent of all online communication has involved the mutual exchange of randomly generated Moira Rose GIFs. But still, I am certain you’ll see a few more of these than usual at some point Friday night. The great Catherine O’Hara is being honoured at the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards that evening, and you’d think CBC Comedy’s social media team has been flooding Giphy with content all these years just for this moment because ...
Every. | | Single. | | Meme. | | Works for the GG Awards. | | CBC will be airing a one-hour TV special of this year’s event starting Friday at 7 p.m. (7:30 p.m. NT). Filmed in outdoor locations throughout the country, the program features all-star tributes to the honourees. And who might the rest of the recipients be? Tantoo Cardinal, Lynda Hamilton, Alexina Louie, Zab Maboungou, Florent Vollant and Ryan Reynolds.
A teaser for you: Schitt’s Creek stars Eugene Levy, Dan Levy, Annie Murphy and Noah Reid will be celebrating O’Hara as part of the program, along with SCTV alums Andrea Martin, Martin Short and Dave Thomas. Head to CBC Arts later this week for more info about the show, as well as a series of essays about the 2021 winners. | | | | And because we promised you eye candy ... | | | Now Gallery | Maybe you’ve seen Lydia Chan’s beaded masks and monsters on Instagram.
