Leaseholder of Whitehorse's 'purple cabin' back in court, appealing order to vacate

The Yukon government ordered the cabin's owner and its tenant to vacate the property in 2021, saying the 30-year lease had expired.

N.W.T. wants to use federal housing funds to demolish derelict homes

The N.W.T. was granted $74 million from the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund, but those funds are not allowed to be used for the demolition of derelict houses. That's is something the territory hopes to change.

Additional lead testing happening at Yellowknife schools this week

École William McDonald Middle School was having its drinking water tested Thursday and Range Lake North School will be tested Friday. Last month, Yellowknife Education District No. 1 notified parents and staff about high levels of lead in the water at the two schools.
