The winning author will receive $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts, attend a two-week writing residency at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and will have their work published on CBC Books. Four finalists will receive $1,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts and have their story published on CBC Books. Here are a few last-minute reminders before submitting: Respect the word count We are very strict about word counts. Please make sure your entry doesn’t go over 2,500 words. We use Microsoft Word to calculate the word count. Attach the right file When you are ready to submit, check that you’re attaching the correct file as there are no substitutions or refunds. One good way to ensure that you’re sending the correct version is saving it under a different name than your working document. Don’t leave it until the last minute
Try not to leave it until the very last minute to enter. Ensure you leave time to familiarize yourself with the submission process. Read the rules & regulations To avoid any mistakes that would disqualify your submission, please read the rules and regulations. Have questions?
