CBC Short Story Prize

Listen to your inner voice

"When you get that idea, don’t set it aside for later — sit down for as long as you can and write.

"Writing is energy and momentum. Make it a priority. Don’t second-guess yourself.

"After you submit it, let it go. Start working on something else."

Linda Kingston studied at York University and the University of Victoria, and has worked as a writer and editor in Ottawa. She has previously been shortlisted for the Malahat Review Far Horizons Award for Short Fiction and is working on a collection of stories. Kingston was on the 2025 CBC Short Story Prize longlist.
